Local Non-Profit Creates Opportunities to Boost Businesses and Sustain Jobs
PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ – January 31, 2014 – A new tourism campaign, In the MIDst: More Happens in MIDJersey, aimed at boosting the economy and promoting what’s happening in the MIDJersey region, was announced today during a press conference at Rat’s Restaurant at Grounds For Sculpture in Trenton, New Jersey.
Powered by the MIDJersey Chamber of Commerce’s non-profit economic development arm, the MIDJersey Center for Economic Development (MIDCED), In the MIDst is the first initiative in the MIDCED’s mission of stimulating regional awareness of existing cultural, educational and historical qualities of the MIDJersey region as well as the retention, expansion and attraction of region businesses.
In addition to a consumer friendly website, IntheMIDstNJ.com, the campaign aims to create major opportunities to showcase the region’s capabilities to host major events.
“Tourism is a growing driver of the New Jersey economy and what better way to help contribute to its success than by developing an initiative that is the foundation for the economic development of this region,” said Robert Prunetti, Executive Director of MIDCED. “This region has its own unique identity and we want to further showcase to businesses and consumers all it has to offer.”
It is estimated that New Jersey tourism brings in nearly $40 billion annually and affects hundreds of ancillary industries.
“A major driver of jobs in New Jersey is the tourism industry,” said Ronald Perl, Chairman of MIDCED. “Through In the MIDst, we are looking to develop opportunities for businesses in the MIDJersey region to thrive, helping to increase tourism and sustain jobs in the region.”
